A note from our founders

Our greatest compliment came from a client who said “there are a lot of companies out there that offer the services of Something Fabulous, but none of them have the heart of Something Fabulous”.

We are small, but we are mighty and we have a lot of heart.

Non-profits and Associations… Your cause becomes our cause because we understand that we help to change the world with you and through the work that you do.

Corporate event planners and meeting facilitators… we’re here for you. You’re making the world go around. Our proven strategies can support you and the work you’re doing. Our goal is to help you simplify the planning process and create meaningful experiences for your organization and the cause you serve.

Couples and families… we understand celebrations, and we are honored to participate in yours. Although you invite us into your lives for a short period of time, your memories of these milestone moments last a lifetime.  You will soon be able to join us at Something-Celebrated, where we will share our simplify-inspire-design process and change the conversation around celebrations.

We’re Honored

What we’ve learned is that while trends come and go, it’s the classic elements in everyday life that make for timeless and beautiful design. It’s this fresh perspective that allows us to keep our pulse on the trends while moving forward into uncharted territory. Which, according to our clients, is what makes our work Something Fabulous.

Meet the Team

Kimberly Allen

Co-Founder | Chief Experience Officer

As Chief Experience Officer at Something Fabulous, I’m driven by a belief that business is personal, and milestones matter. I have a deep desire to change the conversation around the way we experience board meetings, annual fundraising campaigns, celebrations and experiences as families and organizations. I believe in intentional design and meaningful outcomes. I think all of this is possible when approached with thorough analysis and transparency.  As with many things in life, this approach is simple, but not always easy.

Why:

I see our role as more than project managers, designers or advisory consultants; we provide solutions and participate in their implementation. We take pride in our contribution to our client’s success.  It’s about quality of life which includes the life we live at work.  I am energized by collaborations that are relationship and mission driven over mere transactions executed for the next dollar. I am committed to making a positive impact in my company, my community and our world wherever I can.

Jennifer Charles

Co-Founder | Chief Creative Officer

My specialty is in design, trends and building relationships. I enjoy delving into the “why” behind an event, marketing campaign or celebration, and designing custom experiences that tell stories and increase engagement for our clients and their guests.

I have a degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. I started my career in radio, television and film. From interning at The Today Show and Good Morning America to working production at The Food Network and Newline Cinema, I have experienced storytelling from many different angles and industries.  I have enjoyed bringing that experience into the work that we do as Experience Designers.

In 2019 Kimberly and I were recognized by BizBash as The Top 1,000 people in events in the United States. Something Fabulous has also been recognized as one of the Top 25 Best Women-Owned Businesses by Working Mother Magazine, Top 14 Best Event Design, Planning Companies in Metro DC by PartySlate in addition to winning multiple National Association of Catering and Events (NACE) awards for design and production over the years.

Why:

I love memory making, building traditions and meaningful conversation.  I love the sounds, sights & feeling of bringing people together. Sharing meaningful moments, a meal together with family, friends or colleagues. Building a program that brings people together to make an impact in the world. Philanthropy, unity, passion. I  truly believe I couldn’t be doing anything else.  It’s what wakes me up every morning knowing that I have an opportunity to be a part of someone’s love story, charitable cause, community event or product launch. I love understanding the “Why” behind the event & helping my clients orchestrate the vision to bring it to life.  Designing to me is more about the “why” than the trend. It’s timeless, creative & unique to each person or organization. There’s no one size fits all or should we say one design fits all. To me – At the end of the day, it’s about life celebrations. They happen everyday and we just need to be present to realize they are happening. I feel truly blessed that I have the opportunity to help people enjoy the process & create memories & experiences. I couldn’t ask for a better life mission.

Samantha Smart

Director of Program Partnerships / Govt and Veterans

As the Director of Program Partnerships for Something Fabulous, I work closely with our clients to deliver on key objectives and program initiatives. Internally I manage details of our marketing and internal projects as well as mentor our new team members. At the beginning of my career I wanted to only plan weddings and loved love. Over the years I have found that my true love is the management side of our contracts and making a difference by supporting the mission and objectives of our nonprofit, government and association clients.

I joined Something Fabulous in 2013 as an intern. I have enjoyed growing into and expanding my role within the company while expanding my expertise and knowledge through the new opportunities our client work offers.  In 2017-2018, the National Defense Industrial Association – Michigan Chapter honored me with an award for Exceptional Support for my work on the Michigan Defense Exposition.

Outside of the office, I love to spend time with friends and family, go on weekend getaway trips, and coach high school cheerleading. I attended Brigham Young University-Idaho and received a degree in University Studies in 2015. It’s a degree that serves me well as I build a career and life that celebrates meaningful work, family and everyday life.

Why:

My WHY is in telling the stories of nonprofits, hearing the experiences that these organizations represent, and giving them a voice. I am passionate about the work we do, the causes that our work supports and the stories that it brings to life. I love hearing people’s hopes and visions; giving voice to stories and being a part of making ideas come to life.  I am honored to be involved in such amazing causes. For me, it’s about celebrating the little wins, the moments you can’t get back and being a part of something bigger than myself that makes a difference in our world.

Casey LC Rice

Graphic Designer

My core values revolve around creativity, connection, authenticity, and learning. I am happiest when I’m aligning those values in my personal and professional life – building out a creative project with my team, experimenting with new techniques in my own musical/artistic practice, memorable getaways in new places with my family, diving deep into meaningful conversations with friends and colleagues, introspective study and self improvement. Intentionality is important to me as a designer and as a human being. Something Fabulous lives and breathes intentionality and becoming a part of this team has allowed me to deepen the connection to my core values in all facets of my life.

WHY:

Successful creative endeavors have a strong conceptual foundation. Every decision related to the project comes back to that concept. My “why” is helping our clients uncover that concept– assisting in aligning them with their own “why”, and delivering purposeful assets that aid in telling their authentic story. It is my favorite part about the creative process. It enables true connection, elicits an emotional response, and inspires action.

Olivia Green

Event Program and Marketing Coordinator

Working as an event program and marketing coordinator, I become an extension of your team. I support clients by handling all logistics to make your event successful. Whether that is coordinating with the venue on what time vendors arrive or working with our graphic designer on coming up with signage that will enhance the look and feel of your event. I am here to bring your vision to life so you are able to enjoy your event without the stress of coordination.

WHY:

I graduated from Hope College in 2024 with a degree in Communications and Business and I have always had a passion for creating events that bring people together. Being able to work with people from all different walks of life has shown me how we have one thing in common which is wanting to create connections. Being able to work with a small but mighty team has allowed me to grow into a career that is always changing and growing by making connections with the people around me.
